In the heart of the Italian countryside, your mystical Wedding venue awaits. Step back in time & fall in love with this enchanting 11th Century Hermitage.

Located deep within the heart of the Italian Countryside, surrounded by breathtaking views, ancient olive trees and row upon row of vineyards, it’s difficult not to fall in love with this place the moment you step foot from the plane.

Situated 300km northeast of Rome and 220km from Bologna, the Eremo dei Frati Bianchi is incredibly easy to find. With a flight time of less than 2 hours, direct flights run between Stansted and the seaport of Ancona frequently with Ryanair.

After an enjoyable 30 minutes drive southwest of Ancona in the Marche region, you reach the Fossa del Corvo (Ditch of the Raven) situated between Poggio Cupro and the romantic town of Cupramontana (fittingly named after the goddess of Fertility and Love, Cupra). Here lies the Eremo dei Frai Bianchi, or the Hermitage of the white Friars, a hidden monastery dating back to the 11th Century. The hermitage sits deep within 6 acres of woodland, and can be accessed by a mile long old road from the north.

As you travel down the one way track off the main road and approach the last bend you are greeted warmly by the beautiful front garden, dominated by the recently restored St Lucia fountain. Proudly protruding from the rocky mountain behind, the hermitage is striking yet welcoming and your every day stresses are instantly left behind as this historic gem captures you.

Since the year 2000 a team of passionate investors have dedicated their time and energy to restoring the monastery after it was abandoned in 1920. With the majority of the works complete, the hermitage has been fabulously restored to protect and preserve the history and culture of the Marche region. The philosophy of this spiritual hermitage reflects the traditional hospitality of the monks who for centuries welcomed travellers from all walks of life to enjoy a moment of peace in a truly divine place.

The hermitage includes two chapels, one fully restored and dedicated to St. Romualdo, and the second of St. Joseph, currently under restoration. Though not yet complete, the latter is a vision of beauty, with delicate original features and stepped access to the front lawn. The monastery stretches over a number of floors and is centered round a spacious private courtyard, which can cater for up to 80 guests banquet style or 100 buffet layout. If you have a larger Wedding party there is a marquee available on the lower ground of the garden, which can cater up to 200 guests, banquet style.

With original stone flooring throughout there are 12 renovateden-suite bedrooms, previously the monks chambers and a stunning bridal suite placed in the monks old library. There are a number of smaller rooms available for intimate ceremonies, workshops & meetings, plus a fully equipped kitchen, cellar and a number of smaller original monks cells at the front of the monastery.

There are a selection of romantic caves situated on the cliff face, used by the Camaldolesi monks for daily solitude, worship and shelter. These can be accessed by narrow paths from the garden and easily transport you back in time as you explore.

If you chose not to marry in one of the beautiful chapels, enchanting Wedding ceremonies can be held besides the fountain on the front lawn, in the private courtyard or within the erected marquee on the lower ground of the garden.

The owners pride themselves on providing a personal experience for their guests, and have spent time personally selecting and working with only the best suppliers in the region to recommend for your individual event. At the Eremo dei Frati Bianchi you can truly experience the rich gourmet diversity of the Marche region, with locally sourced truffles and verdicchio, delicious organic food, precious wines and the finest olive oil.

As you walk around Eremo you can’t help but be immersed in the tranquility & beauty of your surroundings. This really is a magical Wedding venue that takes you back in time the moment you arrive.

Eremo dei Frati Bianchi is accepting bookings now for 2015 onwards and is the perfect location for any private occasion. The entire monastery can be hired exclusively allowing you and your guests to fully relax and fall in love with this enchanting piece of history.
