Winter Wedding Trends

nadiawood

Ok yes, Spring has only just sprung, and here I am talking about winter. But bear with me, you're in for a treat. For those couples looking to set their date in the year ahead, I'm going to be making the case for a winter wedding by looking at some of the gorgeous season trends for winter 2016/17.

Floral-Free Decor

The trend toward foliage and non-floral decorations is perfect for the winter season where your flower choices may be limited. A season classic of soft ivory and bold, fragrant greens works so well in cosy  barns or even grand ballrooms. A roaring fire marked out by draped foliage garlands, ivory napkins studded with a gorgeous smelling sprig of rosemary. It's such an easy design, but boy does it make an impact.

Moody Hues

Take inspiration as the dark nights are closing in - look to moody colours like plum, inky blues or deep reds. Don't be afraid to go dark, it works with the mood of the season and is lightened by beautiful candlelight and soft fabrics. Use it in your invitations, your linens and your florals to complete the look.

Comfort Food

Forget fine dining and gourmet - what guests really want on a cold night is more likely to be bitesized comfort food. Think tiny trays of macaroni cheese, miniature burgers and churros with dipping chocolate. Yum!

How about a hot chocolate bar for you and your guests to make up their own delicious drink at the end of an evening?

Velvet

Oh yes, velvet is making a comeback people. This beautiful luxe fabric is ideal for winter weddings. Wrap it around buttonholes for some winter glam, and put on your velvet shoes for the dance floor!

Velvet makes any colour seems luxurious and warm, whether it's pastels or jewel tones. If your groom is feeling brave, consider kitting him out in a velvet suit to really make him pop!
