Where do I start to begin describing this fantastic trip I've just returned from? Already a lover of Greece, the culture, mythology and not forgetting Greek food, I've had the opportunity to experience what they have to offer the Luxury Destination Wedding market and meet with a range of global experts too.
After leaving a gloomy and foggy England at the end of October, the quietly chaotic roads of Athens with an abundance of yellow cabs and helmet missing motorcyclists led us to our extravagant host Hotel Grand Bretagne. This incredible luxury Hotel stood proudly in the centre of Athens with direct views of the Parliament building & the poignant Acropolis & stadium from the roof top restaurant.
Over the course of two days I met a whole range of suppliers and buyers from across the globe. With 26 meetings scheduled I came away with a diverse range of valuable contacts offering every element required to put together a luxurious Wedding or event. Most notable suppliers for my business included DMCs & Tourist boards from key locations within Europe & private luxurious villas across Greece, Italy, France and Portugal perfect for honeymoons, private events and parties. Not forgetting some truly exceptional hotels and providers in Iceland offering bespoke travel and experience packages to create the most memorable Icelandic Wedding or event.
On our guided activity afternoon we visited the Acropolis and its monuments the Parthenon, the Erechtheon & the Propylea which are universal symbols of the classical spirit and civilization of Greece.
Following this we explored the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896. We passed the Greek Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier guarded by the Euzones in their colourful uniform. Also on the tour was the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma), the Temple of Olympian Zeus & the Hadrian's Arch.
Afterwards we wandered the local cobbled streets of city before returning to the hotels relaxing spa. During the evening we were treated to a Gala dinner at the Balux Prive, a stunning events venue by the waterfront with fantastic views of Athens. Here we partied the night away whilst still exchanging cards on the dance floor!
Within these two days I met and learnt about so many wonderful industry members, I spent time with fellow UKAWP members (UK Alliance of Wedding Planners) and let my hair down a little too!
I'm coming away with some fantastic contacts from companies all over Europe and Worldwide each offering stunning Wedding locations and experiences that are ideal for my clients. I simply could not have asked for a more memorable or valuable business trip so a big THANK YOU goes to Private Luxury Forums and their wonderful team of staff.
