It's our last Supplier Showcase of 2016! How did that happen? A big welcome to the extremely talented, creative and simply lovely Nikki Loomes, owner of Lola Rose Venue Dressing & Chair Cover Hire.
I've been lucky enough to know Nikki since moving to Stamford in 2014 and I am delighted to share more about her business with you today. Over to you Nikki!
Who are we?
We are a family business based in Oakham in Rutland and Stamford in Lincolnshire called Lola Rose Venue Dressing & Chair Cover Hire - we have been dressing weddings, events, parties and corporate events for many years. We love our job and pride ourselves on our attention to detail and offering a friendly and professional service. We provide chair cover hire or can transform and dress your whole venue to create the wedding or event of your dreams.
When do I need to book your services?
We would recommend as soon as possible as dates do get booked up and it avoids disappointment.
What other services do you offer?
We dress chairs but also offer a bespoke venue dressing service. We offer a FREE consultation sharing our knowledge and expertise to advise you how best to turn your ideas and dreams into reality at a reasonable price. Items available to hire include: table centrepieces, flowers for the venue but also for all your wedding party, drapes, top table and cake table swags, candelabras, letterbox, beautiful sweet tables, dance floors, sparkly lights, topiary trees, ceiling lights, sparkly trees, dance floors, sequin cloths, LOVE letters and much more….. We are happy to source items for you too.
What type of chair dressing hire do you provide?
We have lycra and poly cotton chair covers in a variety of colours and sizes (white, ivory, navy, pink, even zebra print!) White lycra covers are the most popular and versatile as they fit most chairs – they are also the most inexpensive. We have 100s of different colour sashes and hoods in organza, taffeta, silk, lace and hessian and the popular sequin design too. We can add flowers, broaches, frills to your sashes too. We can dress all chair types including: Chivari, Cheltenham and Conference Chairs.
What colours would you recommend for dressing my wedding?
Everyone has a favourite colour but if a client is struggling to make a choice we would recommend the following:
Champagne, gold, white, ivory – creates an elegant, timeless look and always works beautifully.
Silver/grey – for a sophisticated look.
Sage/green – bringing the outside in. Soft but fresh especially against white covers.
Classic navy blue – Smart, popular and stylish.
Dusky pinks and hessian – Country vintage & romantic.
Fashionable for 2017 – mint green, navy, sequin.
What is the difference between organza, taffeta & silk?
Organza is a soft fabric which creates a light floaty sash – this is the least expensive of all sashes and is very popular. The taffeta sash always looks stunning – it is stylish and classic and the colours are more vibrant. Silk sashes are similar to the taffeta but they are shiny and have a softer fall. We can provide top table and cake swags in matching fabrics.
What do we do next if we are interested in booking you?
You can arrange an appointment to meet us - we offer a FREE no obligation consultation at your venue or our office to share ideas and show you products. We meet at the venue so that you can see the actual chairs dressed and look at the room layout and its soft furnishing colours and work together to talk about how we can transform the room for your special day. Alternatively, we are happy to arrange everything for your wedding via email and phone conversations.
How many weddings and events have you dressed?
We have dressed 100 and 100s of weddings in hotels, marquees, village halls and country houses we also dress the chairs for civil ceremonies too. We have a wealth of experience and knowledge and know the staff at many of the Rutland, Stamford, Melton Mowbray, Leicester, Peterborough, Market Harborough and Uppingham and The Vale of Belvoir venues.
We love each event that we are fortunate to be involved with – we really enjoy meeting new people and sharing their excitement and anxieties about their forthcoming event. We enjoy putting together a plan to create a vision that is going to exceed their expectations and of course match their budget! It is wonderful to share our knowledge and expertise in this way. We have dressed small weddings, proms, large corporate events and parties – we are very happy to be immersed in anything that needs dressing!
Top tip for newley engaged couples
1. Don’t panic and book everything two years ahead of your wedding – your taste and fashion will change!
2. When thinking about dressing your room, keep things simple and stylish, don’t add oodles of homemade items.
3. If you are on a budget then consider dressing the top table and the cake table to perfection. These area are the most photographed and as you will be on the top table, they receive the most attention.
4. Pinterest is a great way of putting together your ideas and a great way to show your suppliers what you like. However, try to cull the pictures to around 3 for cakes, 3 for venue dressing, 3 for flowers, etc otherwise your actual ideas can become diluted and your head will be in a spin too with so many images!
What trends have you noticed for 2016
2016 has seen a popularity in navy, blush pinks and gold and silver metallic. The use of hessian for the country/vintage look has remained popular too.
In 2016 we have noticed that Brides & Grooms are shopping around much more looking for the best deals they can find which is great. However, be aware that cheap is not always best and that the adage ‘you pay for what you get’ can ring true!
Long traditional top tables at weddings are less popular. Families are often ‘blended’ and so couples prefer the ease of having a circular table with the rest of their family and friend.
How do I like to unwind?
There are so many things that I like to do, however, you will often see me out running in the beautiful countryside of Rutland, particularly around Rutland Water and The Penninsular. Running is a great way to unwind, clear your head, get some exercise, enjoy the great outdoors and share time and conversation with likeminded friends.
We have a new addition to the family too. His name is Ralph. Ralph is a 9 months old cockapoo – he is gorgeous, faithful, little chap who is never far from my side. I love teaching him new tricks and taking him out for walks or just snuggling up on the sofa with him on cold winter evenings. He is a delight!
